Blossom in Chelsea (Ninth Avenue between 21st & 22nd St.) has the best soy cheese I’ve tasted in my life. It comes on the mushroom sandwich (in the shredded form, not the brick) and is the only soy cheese I’ve ever eaten that tastes good on it’s own. I love Blossom in general too but it’s expensive.
For appetizers I love the black eyed pea cake (crispy cake of yukon gold potato & black eyed peas served with chipotle aioli) and also enjoyed the South Asian Lumpia (curried seitan & potato wrapped in a crispy chickpea crepe served with mango onion sambal).
You have to try the Portobella Ciabatta (grilled portobella, roasted red peppers, carmelized onions topped with vegan mozzarella – served with fries or salad) for the soy cheese too.
For entrees I’ve enjoyed the Phyllo Roulade (French lentils & root vegetables baked in a phyllo crust, carrot cream sauce, caramelized onions and rainbow swiss chard complement) and the vegetable stir fry.
For dessert you have to try the chocolate ganache that comes with chocolate sorbet and a chocolate covered strawberry (^_^)
